Two years ago we upgraded to
XE and the problem was that all development work was halted for the 3 months
between the Spec Merge and the go live.
What has happened now is that since the Spec Merge, we have found objects (custom and pristine) that were missing. We have used Boomerang to bring them into EnterpriseOne 8.9 very easily. Basically, there has been no halt in development.Dave Taylor, MIS Manager,

We used boomerang extensively for our XE to ERP8 upgrade.
Because we did not have the luxury of stopping development in XE during the upgrade, it was necessary that we bring any object changes into the upgrade environment, so that those changes would be migrated when the time came. Now we are using boomerang to help harmonize our American and European instances into one single JDE instance. When paying, please, provide your full mailing address, as well as the full name of the legal License owner. Boomerang is shipped on dedicated USB flash-memory disks, which also serve as licensing devices: the USB stick needs to be plugged-in for the software to operate - it still allows remote operation through the key sharing mechanism, as described in the User's Guide.
Some older copies of Boomerang may be expiring on the 1st of January. Please, download updated free versions, or request an updated version to be e-mailed to you, if you have an expired copy of any commercial version.

From the usability point of view, for multi-site code migration requirements, you will need to first decide: Can you comfortably use the same single USB dongle on both sides? - without the need to use Boomerang Lite for Imports on the Importing side. If the answer is "YES", then a single License of Boomerang will probably be sufficient. And if you do not expect to ever need to send your Export files off-site, then this single License can be the Site Limited edition. Alternatively, if you may need to send your code off-site, then you will probably need the Full Development edition, because then these files will be able to be imported with the free Boomerang Lite.
If the answer to the previous question was "NO", then your choices (for a 2-site scenario) may be:

Special note regarding Personal Subscription License:
This License is sold as a subscription. Once the subscription expires, a renewal fee must be paid to continue receiving updates. If the subscription is discontinued (i.e.: by not paying the renewal fee, when due), the License automatically and permanently expires and all use of the software must be discontinued and all copies in your possession must be destroyed.Please, note, that this Personal Subscription License belongs to and can only be used by the Named User, whose name appears on the main program window, regardless of who makes the payment. I.e.: if your current employer pays for this purchase, they will not be the owners of this License - you will be and you must take it with you when leaving this employment. Thus, companies are discouraged from sponsoring such purchases - this License is specifically designed for self-employed consultants and cannot be owned by companies (the sole exception to this rule being your personal company, if you are the only employee of such company). This License is not transferable. If you wish to terminate this License, you can do so unilaterally at any time at your own discretion. No fees are refundable.
This type of License is a Personal equivalent of the Full Development License and has no restrictions on Import/Export of any types of supported Objects. This License type is not available through re-sellers.
